Green Tea, long touted for it’s antioxidant properties, is in the news again. Reuters reports that Green Tea may protect against colon cancer. According to a recent study by the American Association for Cancer Research, polyphenols, a substance in Green Tea decreased the amount of malignant tumors in rats by 80%. Researchers hope to start clinical trials using green tea polyphenols in humans soon.
This latest finding just adds to Green Tea’s already impressive resume. A study by the University of Arizona earlier this year showed that Green Tea may boost cancer fighting enzymes. And it also in the news with a major soda manufacturer touting it as a weight loss additive.
